Shu Uemura Skin Purifier Cleansing Beauty Oil Premium A/I

I've heard from my sister that the Shu Uemura's oil cleansers works really well and that's why I had the intention of buying it for my sister. Until I saw  the price. It  was extremely expensive! But my mentor at The Body Shop Benelux, who has worked at Shu Uemura, gave one for my birthday! It's the Skin Purifier Cleansing Beauty Oil Premium A/I. The one in the matte bottle. And yes I've kept it for myself hehe. It's a huge bottle I can say. Nancy if you are reading this: thank you so much!

The secret to one of the top products of Shu Uemura cleansing oil is that it claims to protect the skin's delicate moisture balance while remove make up and impurities in a single step. Blending rich botanical oils, including avocado, jojoba and with natural ingredients these cleansing oils are formulated in six varieties for perfect gentle cleansing for any skin type. It's gentle and it improves your skin. Another fact is that they use unique high performance oil system in all of their cleansing oils. Which means it can remove make up such as waterproof mascara, foundation and lip colour.

3. Wet face to emulsify cleansing oil
4. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm or cold water

My opinion
It's very important that you follow the directions and don't wet your face or hands before the application! Otherwise the whole cleansing with beauty oil doesn't work effectively. For example my sister didn't read the instructions and just tried this while she was in the shower. Later on she said she was disappointed in this product. Well you need to use it correctly first right? Okay enough rumbling, too much text. Let's start with my opinion okay?

Well first I don't use 3 to 4 pumps at all! I'm sorry but I think 1 to 2 (for heavy make up) is already enough. This bottle is not cheap, so I try to use it sparely. Next step is to indeed to apply the oil (without any water or whatsoever) onto your skin, even with make up on. It's basically a make up remover and cleanser in one. I will massage the product onto my face first and then I wet my hands to create a white emulsion and massage it further. If I notice that the emulsion becomes almost dry I add water again to massage and clean my face further. After about one I will rinse it with cold water. The funny thing is that you can see and feel the dirty emulsion/water dripping from your face. It's amazing how this oil removes all my make up and especially my foundation. It also removes my eye make up, but it's harder with my very very waterproof mascaras, like the Heroine Make Kiss Me Impact & Curl masacara. I sometimes need to use waterproof eye make up remover for the left over mascara residue. The smell of this cleansing oil is okay. Nothing too fancy or too terrible. It just has a pleasant scent to it.

On days where I put a full face make up I have a feeling that only cleansing with this oil isn't enough. So only on the days I wear full make up I use my gel cleanser with my Clarasonic Mia after the Shu Uemura's cleansing oil. I don't recommend doing this if you are not sure about it. It's basically cleansing your face twice. Even this cleansing oil is gentle, it might dry out your skin. So please make sure. If you have a feeling that this cleanser on its own is enough, stick with that. But please read again that I only cleanse twice on the days where I wear full make up or foundation. I find it important, especially because I have acne, to have really clean skin. I use this beauty oil about 3 to 4 times a week at night on days where I need to go out to university or meeting with friends for example.

But so far, I see this cleansing oil as an extra step to remove all my make up and also to cleanse my skin. It's very gentle, it doesn't clog my pores or irritate my skin. My skin does feel nourished and healthy. After my two step cleaning, my face feels even more clean and fresh.

Would I repurchase this product? I don't know! It is a very good and qualitative product, but the price is just too expensive. Maybe in the future when I have a stable skincare regime I will keep this product.

The price for Shu Uemura's cleansing oils ranges on Sasa.com from €20 to €60.
