Review • Maybelline Instant Anti-Age The Eraser Eye

I have shown this product  in my February Favourites and decided to write a review about this.  I saw this concealer a while ago on Youtube, favourited by different kinds of beauty & fashion bloggers and bought one to try out. This is already my second tube and I'm almost through it. Which is not surprising: this concealer is brilliant.

This is what Maybelline says about Instant Anti-Age The Eraser Eye:

Active Formula and Micro-Corrector Applicator erase dark circles, puffiness and fine lines instantly.
Why You'll Love It
• Micro-Corrector Applicator micro-fills and smoothes.
• Active formula with Haloxyl reduces the look of puffiness and shadows while fading the appearance of under-eye circles.
• Apply neutralizer shade for extreme dark circles.
• Brightener shade adds a luminous touch.

For Best Results
Use applicator to apply concealer directly to under-eye area, blending in an outward motion.  Wipe off excess eye concealer with dry tissue only.  Do not wet applicator.

So this concealer containing goji berries promises to erase dark circles, puffiness and fine lines instantly. On their website they stated that they offers 6 colours, but I have only seen 2 colours in the Dutch drugstore shelves: Fair and Light. I use the Light shade.

The directions for application and cleaning and list of ingredients. This is for me the first time using this kind of applicator. It said that The Eraser Eye is protected with an anti-microbia system (?). I have tried to google it, it sounds like so scientific, but I don't have any idea what it's supposed to do.. I think it's something like anti-bacteria for the hygiene of the applicator.

The Instant Anti-Age The Eraser Eye comes in a small tube with a round spongy applicator. You have to twist the collar of the applicator for the product to come out and then apply it directly on the under-eye area and blending in an outward motion as needed with fingers. You can build the coverage with the amount of 1-2 clicks of twisting. You can get the best result by using it sparingly.

Here is a swatch on my hand, as you can see it blends perfectly with the skin on my hand. It has a creamy light texture and dries matte. Let's look how it is on my face:

On the left picture I don't have any make-up on and on the right picture I applied The Eraser Eye. I applied The Eraser Eye Concealer under my eye, beside my nose, mouth corners, chin, and a bit on my forehead and a bit on my cheeks to cover up my redness and blended it all out with my fingers. I have used two layers on my eye area.

As you can see on the right picture my face has a more even tone and a brighter complexion. It covers most of my redness, however it didn't cover my dark circles fully. My face does looks more awake, and less puffy. The consistency is light and thin which makes blending really easy and therefore it looks and feels very natural on my skin, not cakey at all. It setts pretty quickly without creasing into my fine lines. This product kind of wears off after a few good hours.

Why this was in my February Favourites? Even though it doesn't fully erase or cover my dark circles, I really like this as an all over face daily concealer with a light to medium coverage which is build-able. I have stopped wearing foundation and just use a concealer on the spots that I have mentioned earlier to brighten up my face, cover dark circles, spots and redness to look and feel more awake. I
find this a really easy and amazing concealer to use because the light texture, how easy it is to blend and how natural it looks on my face, instead of a packed face full of foundation. The colour is better than all of my foundation shades, so this is also why I really like it. The packaging may be unhygienic, but I have no problem with that since I am always applying directly on clean skin blending it with clean fingers.

All with all, I really like Maybelline Instant Anti-Age The Eraser Eye as my daily concealer, because it's easy to work with and it looks very natural. I only use this concealer to even out my skin tone and apply further eye makeup and some cheek colour. Unfortunately I saw them disappearing from the Dutch drugstores shelves, but I desperately need back ups!
